I married and became a first-time mom at the age of 45; two years later I was told I was POST menopausal so I started blogging. You will find a mix of personal stories, humor and the most Luxurious Giveaways for us busy moms!
What do you do when your husband comes home and frys up a package of rotting fish for lunch in the middle of winter? Open the windows? No, I don't think so when it's minus something crazy outside. Leave? Wish I could but that disgusting odor would be waiting for me when I returned.
So here's what I did once he ate that putrid fish and headed back to work. First I checked the fridge to make sure there wasn't anything else rotting in there, then I reached for one of my pots, filled it 3/4 full of water, added a teaspoon of dried cloves, a teaspoon of cinnamon and a quartered fresh orange. I put this on the wood stove and let it simmer for the afternoon while I went around with a scarf over my face.
Here's the best part. When our daughter came home after school, instead of asking what stunk so bad, she asked if I had made a pumpkin pie.
With the onset of -20 windchill these last couple of days, I was wondering how the rest of you are coping who live in the snow belt.
For me, it's been business as usual but I have to say, I've been taking full advantage of the Winter Clearance Sales that are going on. Since I live in a small town, it takes several weeks after Christmas for most stores here to clear out their Winter inventory to make room for Spring fashions.
So far, I have 5 Christmas presents looked after for next year, all at more than 85% off! How about you? What are you doing to keep busy until it warms up?
